N/A

Brink is one of the most complex First Person Shooters out there. It runs a system called SMART which allows you to make quick decisions on the fly, which is necessary with this adrenaline-pumped shooter. There will never be a time where you will turn a corner and be able to expect nothing, because the players are constantly in combat. But most of the time the players will be substituted by A.I. players who tend to be pretty dumb, they usually shoot too late, walk into walls, circle the map for no reason, never try to complete objectives and rarely pay attention when you're downed by an enemy.

Brink has some interesting graphics, and the art design followed more of a cartoonish overlay. The quality is still smooth and performs well, but from time to time you may experience lag while online, even with a strong internet connection. The maps are very well designed, but there are too few and the multiplayer dies out because you get annoyed from constantly playing on the same maps. The designs for the weapons are quite flawed and the recoil for them can be ridiculous at times, making it difficult to get a proper headshot. Skill may be needed more in this game, but when a simple pistol causes recoil it makes it difficult to get a kill on the 99% accurate AI players.

What's upsetting is the sound quality, and what's worse is the voice acting, especially since you have to watch it every time before starting any of the multiplayer maps which gets annoying. Most of the sounds don't match up and sometimes you will hear sounds coming from directions opposite of the actual location. All in all the sound was not realistic enough and any player will not be as emerged as they should be.

Brink brings some immersive qualities into the future of FPSs but at the same time it fails elsewhere, mostly in places it should have higher quality. But the customization is entertaining at times, for one there are plenty of combinations and to add on there are also different colors that can match and even change the design of the costumes. It is also useful to be able to switch through the different body types at any given time in the menu, which helps you as a player to adapt to certain situations.

Brink is a good game to pass the time until a more intriguing FPS comes out, and then I would suggest tossing this one for say Battlefield 3. Even then, you'll probably give up on Brink after a week of play; instead you would rather sit in the menus trying to find a new way to make your character look cooler. To me I feel like Brink lowers the standards of Bethesda, given their high fame in their Elder Scrolls franchise and their new work on the FPS Fallout, which is much more of an entertaining game, though there really isn't much free running in Fallout.
